Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Announces BRT Extension to Jamraud and Bara Bazar; Personal Visit Highlights Commitment to Quality Public Transport
Peshawar, November 9, 2025: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, announced the extension of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service to Tedi Bazar (Jamraud) and Bara Bazar in District Khyber. The Chief Minister described the BRT system as a gift from his leader, Imran Khan, to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, emphasizing its role in providing affordable, reliable, and high-quality transportation to the poor and middle-class citizens.
“To reduce overcrowding in the BRT system, 50 new buses have already been purchased, and another 50 will soon be added. Additionally, the service will be extended to more areas so that maximum people can benefit from it,” he stated.
On Sunday, the Chief Minister visited the University of Peshawar BRT Station, where he traveled by bus to the Karkhano Station accompanied by elected representatives and the Chief Secretary. During the journey, he engaged directly with passengers, receiving feedback and suggestions for improving the service. Citizens expressed their excitement over meeting the Chief Minister and captured selfies with him.

Speaking to the media at Karkhano Station, CM Sohail Afridi said, “My purpose in traveling by BRT was to personally experience the service and gather direct feedback from the people to further enhance the efficiency and comfort of this public transport system.”
Addressing questions on constitutional matters, the Chief Minister stated that the 27th Constitutional Amendment undermines the principles of democracy, noting that the current government lacks a popular mandate with only 17 parliamentary seats.
He further announced that a Peace Jirga will be held on November 12, aimed at formulating a permanent strategy to eliminate terrorism and establish long-term stability. Parliamentarians, former lawmakers, and political leaders will be invited to participate and collectively plan for sustainable peace in the province.
