Pakistan Green and Resilient Building Conference 2025 Concludes in Karachi — Major Push for Sustainable Construction

KARACHI, Nov 9, 2025: The three-day Pakistan Green and Resilient Building Conference 2025 concluded in Karachi, marking a major step forward in promoting sustainable, energy-efficient, and environmentally responsible construction practices across the country.
The event brought together participants from federal and provincial departments, private sector companies, financial institutions, and development partners to develop actionable policy measures for a green transition in the construction sector.
Aisha Moriani, Secretary, Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, in her keynote address, highlighted key government initiatives including the Pakistan Green Building Code 2023, Green Taxonomy, and Climate Risk Screening Guidelines 2024, calling them milestones in mainstreaming sustainability within national planning.
EDGE Certification Awards were presented to eight organizations for outstanding contributions to green development, including OGDC, Zameen Development, Allied Bank, Safia Homes (Ansaar Management Company), Modulus Green Homes, HBL Microfinance Bank, Serena Hotels, and Habib University.
Najam Shah, Chairman of the Planning and Development Board, and Muzamil Hussain Halepoto, Director General of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), attended the ceremony, with Halepoto serving as Chief Guest.
He stated that the Sindh Government is committed to integrating eco-friendly standards into building regulations, saying:
> “Promoting sustainable construction will not only help mitigate climate risks but also strengthen the foundation of urban development.”
Panel discussions included experts from the Ministry of Climate Change, NEECA, and the World Bank, focusing on financing, regulation, and the scaling up of resilient construction.
The conference concluded with a high-level roundtable on Green Building Incentives, followed by capacity-building workshops on IFC’s Building Resilience Index (BRI), providing professionals with practical tools to assess climate risks and improve urban resilience.
