KP Governor Calls for Unity to Ensure Peace, Development; Meets U.S. Ambassador on Bilateral Cooperation

Peshawar: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has urged political leaders and citizens to put aside past differences and focus on the province’s future, emphasizing peace, development, and prosperity. He made these remarks while addressing a Peace Jirga held at the KP Assembly on Wednesday, hosted by Speaker Babar Saleem Swati and attended by senior political leaders, including former Federal Minister Sajid Hussain Turi and Akhonzada Chattan.

Governor Kundi stressed that the province had been “off-track” with the federal government and called for reasoned dialogue to resolve security and development challenges. He highlighted the threat posed by weapons left in Afghanistan, which have been used against Pakistan, and underlined the sacrifices made by security forces and APS students in combating terrorism.

He proposed the establishment of a parliamentary committee representing all parties to resolve provincial issues and emphasized the need for sustainable solutions to provide the youth of KP with a peaceful and prosperous future.

Meanwhile, the Governor also hosted U.S. Ambassador Natalie A. Baker at Governor House Peshawar, accompanied by U.S. Consul General Thomas Eckert. The meeting focused on bilateral relations, regional security, and investment opportunities in KP, particularly in tourism and religious tourism.

Governor Kundi briefed the ambassador on KP’s security situation and development initiatives, highlighting the potential of youth in education, sports, and entrepreneurship. He also discussed measures to promote industrial growth and women empowerment. The ambassador thanked the governor for the warm reception and praised the provincial government’s commitment to development and stability, while expressing solidarity with the sacrifices of KP’s people, police, and security forces in the fight against terrorism.
