35th National Games torch reaches Quetta from Islamabad; gets warm welcome; sets to leave for Lahore

QUETTA: The Olympic torch for the 35th National Games, scheduled to begin next month in Karachi, reached Quetta after traveling through various cities across the country. The torch rally was organized under the auspices of the Sports Department, Government of Balochistan, and the Balochistan Olympic Association at Balochistan University of IT, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS).
The rally was led by Secretary Sports, Dura Baloch, and Director General Sports, Dr. Yasar Khan Bazai.
The Senior Vice President of Balochistan Olympic Association Gul Muhammad Kakar, General Secretary Sher Muhammad Tareen, Assistant Director Activities Muhammad Asif Langove, Games Focal Person Mohibur Rahman, Muhammad Ehsan Achakzai, Nasir Panezai, Sanober Khan, Hafeezullah, representatives of various sports associations, coaches, and a large number of athletes participated in the event.
The torch rally began at the main entrance of BUITEMS and passed through different routes within the campus, concluding near the Markhor Auditorium.
On the occasion, Secretary Sports Dura Baloch and Director General Sports Yasar Bazai spoke to the media, stating that preparations for the Balochistan contingent for the 35th National Games are underway. A 450-member contingent of athletes and officials would participate in the Karachi Games with full preparation.
They said training camps for Balochistan athletes are ongoing under the supervision of coaches.
They added that Balochistan’s athletes have the ability to perform well at the national level, and this time they aim to win as many medals as possible. They further stated that in martial arts, fencing, boxing, and about five to six other sports, they expect to secure a significant number of medals.
On this occasion, Senior Vice President of the BOA Gul Muhammad Kakar said that the journey of the torch for the 35th National Games began at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi, and after traveling through various cities across the country, it reached Quetta from Islamabad. From here, the torch would go to Lahore.
The 35th National Games would be held in Karachi from December 6 to 13.
