PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday addressed an awareness seminar on diabetes at the Governor House Peshawar, highlighting the rapid and silent spread of the disease across the country.
The seminar brought together medical experts who discussed prevention strategies, treatment options and the need for stronger public awareness to curb the growing prevalence of diabetes.
Speaking as the chief guest, Governor Kundi said the number of diabetes patients in Pakistan has crossed 30 million, adding that many individuals remain unaware they are suffering from the disease. He termed diabetes a “silently spreading” condition that poses a major challenge for society.
The governor praised the active role of medical experts in both treatment and awareness campaigns, calling their contribution “commendable.” He noted that timely diagnosis and proper awareness can help prevent many diseases.
Governor Kundi said the Governor House is extending full support in all sectors and stressed that the government must formulate effective policies and legislation, especially for the health sector.
He added that the sharply rising diabetes cases have become a significant challenge and emphasized that while modern technology has made treatment easier, prevention through awareness remains the most effective approach.
