Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI(M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, was presented with a Tri-Services Guard of Honour at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Monday, marking the formal institution of the appointment of Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF).

Addressing tri-services officers, the COAS & CDF lauded the extraordinary courage and resolve of the Pakistani nation and praised the professionalism of the Armed Forces during Marka-e-Haq. He said the Multi-Domain Operations conducted during the war had now become a “textbook example” for future warfare studies. He paid rich tribute to the martyrs, noting that they would forever remain the nation’s pride.

Highlighting the need for a formalized framework for tri-services integration, he said modern warfare now spans cyber space, the electromagnetic spectrum, outer space, information operations, artificial intelligence and quantum computing. He termed the newly established CDF Headquarters a historic milestone that would enable coherent planning and coordination to meet the evolving threat spectrum under a unified tri-services structure.

In his concluding remarks, the COAS & CDF outlined a vision for the Armed Forces as a culturally futuristic, combat-ready force capable of deterring aggression and enjoying the full confidence of the nation.

The ceremony also featured the presentation of awards to heroes from the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force in recognition of their valour during Marka-e-Haq.
