QUETTA, Dec 8, 2025
Outstanding electricity dues owed to Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) have surged past Rs 750 billion by October 2025, the utility said in an official update on Monday. According to QESCO, the Balochistan government and its subsidiary departments owe Rs 44.29 billion, while an additional Rs 60.70 billion under agricultural subsidy remains unpaid. No payments have been made against the subsidy since July 2024.
QESCO reported that provincial departments deposited only 28% of their electricity bills in October. Domestic, commercial and industrial consumers collectively owe Rs 47.86 billion, further straining the company’s financial position.
Chief Executive Engineer Yusuf Shah Khan directed all circles to accelerate recoveries from defaulting departments and private consumers. He instructed officials to disconnect connections without delay after the due date, stressing that efficient recovery is essential for uninterrupted power supply across the province.
