Chief Minister Balochistan Highlights Climate Action at Sustainable Development Symposium

QUETTA, Dec 8, 2025 — Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has emphasized climate change as one of the most pressing global challenges and outlined the province’s initiatives for sustainable development at a symposium on “Sustainable Development and Environmental Resilience in Balochistan.” He noted that despite severe droughts, floods, heatwaves, and erratic rainfall, the province remains committed to resilience and inclusive growth.

The Chief Minister detailed the government’s comprehensive Climate Change Policy, which includes renewable energy projects, climate-smart agriculture, green transport, water management, and forest conservation. He highlighted carbon trading opportunities, particularly blue carbon projects, to facilitate climate financing. Bugti called on government agencies, private sector partners, and civil society to work together to ensure Balochistan’s sustainable, environmentally secure future. He also congratulated organizers for the successful symposium and stressed the need for continuous collective action to meet climate challenges and achieve long-term resilience.
