The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Thursday that former Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed has been sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment after being found guilty on all charges by a Field General Court Martial (FGCM).

According to ISPR, proceedings under the Pakistan Army Act were initiated on 12 August 2024, marking the beginning of a 15-month legal process. The accused was tried on four charges, including:

Engaging in political activities,

Violating the Official Secrets Act in a manner detrimental to state security and national interest,

Misuse of authority and government resources, and

Causing wrongful loss to individuals.

ISPR stated that the FGCM followed all legal provisions throughout the “lengthy and laborious” trial, and the accused was provided full legal rights, including representation by a defence team of his choosing. The court’s decision was formally promulgated on 11 December 2025.

The statement added that the convict retains the right to appeal before the relevant forum. ISPR further noted that his involvement in “fomenting vested political agitation and instability” with political actors, as well as other related matters, is being dealt with separately.
