Sydney, December 14, 2025:
At least 11 people were killed and dozens more injured after gunmen opened fire at a Hanukkah celebration on Sydney’s Bondi Beach, one of Australia’s most popular tourist destinations. Police fatally shot one attacker at the scene, while the second was critically injured and taken into custody.
Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes as attendees fled in panic. Authorities also discovered an improvised explosive device linked to the suspects’ vehicle, raising concerns about a coordinated attack.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned the assault as a “horrific act of antisemitism” and assured heightened security for vulnerable communities. Police investigations continue to determine motives and potential accomplices.
This marks the deadliest shooting in Australia since 1996, reigniting debate over firearm access and security measures.
