VERGINIA (USA): Renowned senior actress of Sindhi and Urdu television dramas, Najma Kawish, currently visiting the United States, has indicated that she may consider settling permanently in the U.S. in the future and continue her acting career there.
Najma Kawish explained that her visit is primarily to attend the graduation ceremony of her younger daughter, Ruba Saleem, who recently completed a master’s degree in Information Technology in the United States. She added that her elder daughter is also studying in the U.S., while her third daughter is pursuing her education in the United Kingdom.
She revealed that she has visited the U.S. multiple times before and had previously been granted a green card, but returned it because her children were still in Sindh, and she did not want to live alone. With her children now in the U.S., she said relocating permanently has become a possibility, though she acknowledged that building a professional team for acting here would be challenging. She also mentioned that actor Sohrab Soomro and other fellow artists reside in the U.S., but long distances make frequent meetings difficult.
When asked about a potential meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump, Najma Kawish stated that while she is primarily an actress and not a political figure, she would seize the opportunity to raise issues concerning the Sindhi community in the U.S. She also said she would present Trump with Ajrak and a Sindhi cap, emblematic gifts representing the rich cultural heritage of Sindh.
