Usta Muhammad (Report: Hanif Baloch): Incidents of lock-breaking burglaries, dacoity and theft have increased alarmingly in Usta Muhammad, highlighting the apparent failure of police to control the worsening law and order situation. Criminal activities are increasingly going out of control, spreading fear among residents.
In the latest incident, unknown culprits targeted the residence of the District Education Officer (Female) near the busy commercial area of Resham Gali. Taking advantage of the absence of the family, who were reportedly out of the city for medical treatment, the suspects broke open the locks, entered the house and made off with valuables, including jewelry and mobile phones, without facing any resistance.
According to local sources, police reached the spot as usual after considerable delay, when the criminals had already completed their operation and escaped easily. The incident has further fueled public anger and distrust.
The surge in burglary and theft cases has triggered serious concern among citizens and teachers’ organizations, who blame weak policing and lack of effective patrolling. They have demanded immediate action, increased police presence and strict measures to curb criminal activities.
Police later initiated an investigation, but no arrests had been reported till the filing of this report.
