Motorway Police Foil Unsafe Meat Transport Near Ahmedpur Sharqia
The National Highways and Motorway Police foiled an attempt to transport unsafe meat near Ahmedpur Sharqia, preventing its possible supply to local markets, officials said on Saturday.
According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, the action was taken after a tip-off was received on the Motorway Police helpline 130 regarding a suspicious APV van. Acting promptly, the patrol team intercepted the vehicle and conducted a thorough inspection. During the operation, 15 kilograms of unhygienic and substandard meat, suspected to be from dead animals, was recovered.
The spokesperson said the driver failed to present any legal documents regarding the source and transportation of the meat. As a result, the Food Safety Authority imposed a fine of Rs20,000 on the driver. The seized meat was destroyed on the spot to eliminate any risk to public health.
Deputy Inspector General Motorway Police Syed Farid Ali said the Motorway Police remains fully committed to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens. He emphasized that strict action will continue against those involved in activities that endanger public health, urging citizens to report suspicious activity through the helpline for timely action.
