Independent Report
Karachi, December 29: The Sindh government has established 1,420 new non-formal education (NFE) centres across the province in partnership with more than 30 social and community organisations to bring out-of-school children into the education system.
Speaking at a signing ceremony in Karachi, Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah said the initiative targets children from marginalised, nomadic and working communities who have remained excluded from formal schooling. He said Sindh has introduced a structured curriculum for non-formal education, allowing children above nine years of age to complete primary education within 24 months.
School Education Secretary Zahid Ali Abbasi said the project marks the second phase of the programme, following the successful launch of 500 centres earlier. Officials said the new centres will be digitally monitored and set up in multiple districts, with plans to expand the network to 3,000 centres across Sindh.
