Loralai, Jan 5:
Assistant Commissioner Loralai Nadeem Akram has warned timber yard owners of strict action against illegal sale of prohibited wood and overcharging, following a meeting held at the Assistant Commissioner’s office.
The meeting was convened on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Loralai Miran Baloch. Addressing the participants, the Assistant Commissioner stated that the transportation and sale of Pulus wood is strictly banned, and any individual bringing such wood must immediately inform the administration.
He directed timber yard owners to strictly adhere to government-approved price lists, warning that yards charging above official rates would face legal action and sealing.
Officials highlighted that Loralai lacks natural gas facilities, while cylinder gas is unaffordable for many residents, forcing people to rely on wood and fuel blocks. Complaints have been received that some timber sellers are exploiting this situation by selling wood at inflated prices.
Public representatives demanded immediate and strict enforcement against violators to protect citizens from exploitation. The administration assured that inspections would be intensified and no leniency would be shown to those involved in illegal trade or price manipulation.
