As Directed by CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, PSCA Launches Emergency Free Mobile Phone Charging Service in Lahore
Lahore, January 06, 2025: On the special direction of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has launched an Emergency Free Mobile Phone Charging Service in Lahore as part of its continued efforts to enhance public convenience and strengthen citizen safety. According to a PSCA spokesperson, the initiative provides four integrated public safety facilities at a single location across various key areas of the city. These include Emergency Free Mobile Phone Charging, Panic Buttons, CM Maryam Nawaz Free Wi-Fi, and 24/7 citizen surveillance through Safety Zones. The purpose of this initiative is to ensure immediate assistance during emergencies and further improve public safety infrastructure.
The spokesperson added that, in the initial phase, emergency free mobile phone charging ports have been activated at 30 important locations in Lahore. The facility will be expanded in phases, with a plan to extend the service to 100 locations in near future. Site selection has been carried out keeping in view public needs, convenience, and high-footfall areas. Citizens have already begun benefiting from this modern facility, enabling uninterrupted communication during emergencies and enhancing overall sense of security. The Safety Zones are being further strengthened with advanced technology to improve monitoring and public facilitation.
The spokesperson of PSCA further stated that this initiative marks another important milestone towards promoting public safety and realizing the Smart City vision, reaffirming the Punjab government’s strong commitment to introducing more innovative, citizen-centric projects in the province.
