Dr. Sham Sunder K. Advani, Member of the Sindh Assembly and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Minority Affairs, has emphasized that religious tolerance and mutual respect are essential pillars for ensuring sustainable peace and national development. He was addressing a conference titled “Strategies for Promoting Religious Tolerance and Mutual Understanding”, organized under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.
The conference witnessed participation from a broad spectrum of society, including Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Kesoo Mal Kheeal Das, Sindh Assembly member Mahesh Kumar Hasija, and representatives of Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Parsi, Christian, and Bahá’í communities. Scholars, political and social leaders, students, and government officials also attended in large numbers, reflecting strong national commitment to interfaith unity.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Advani termed the conference a timely and meaningful initiative aimed at strengthening social cohesion and promoting goodwill. He said all Pakistanis are united under the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who guaranteed equal rights to all citizens regardless of religion or belief.
He noted that nations progress when tolerance, cooperation, and mutual respect prevail, adding that the Pakistan Peoples Party has consistently promoted policies supporting religious harmony and equality. Dr. Advani stressed that such conferences should be held regularly to develop effective strategies for interfaith harmony and lasting peace across the country.
