Bakhtiarabad, Jan 08:
Residents of Bakhtiarabad, Lehri, and surrounding areas are facing severe hardship due to persistent low gas pressure amid the ongoing winter season. The shortage has disrupted daily life, leaving households unable to cook meals or stay warm during freezing temperatures.
Locals complain that despite paying heavy utility bills, gas supply remains insufficient, particularly during morning and evening hours. Women are facing serious difficulties managing household chores, while elderly citizens and children are among the worst affected.
With gas unavailable, many residents have been forced to rely on firewood, which is being sold at prices ranging from Rs800 to Rs1,000 per mound—far beyond the reach of daily wage earners who earn only Rs700 to Rs800 per day.
The crisis has also impacted education, as students are reportedly leaving for school without breakfast. Citizens have appealed to MPA Sibi Sardar Kohyar Khan Domki, the Deputy Commissioner Sibi, and officials of Sui Southern Gas Company to immediately restore adequate gas pressure and ensure uninterrupted supply, warning that prolonged neglect could spark public unrest.
