Quetta, Jan 08:
The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has announced the launch of a protest movement in Quetta to address worsening civic issues, including gas shortages, electricity load-shedding, water scarcity, and alleged harassment by authorities.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the PkMAP City Tehsil Committee, chaired by Senior Joint Secretary Shakoor Afghan at the residence of District Joint Secretary Dr Habibullah Kakar. Party leaders discussed persistent gas supply suspensions, low pressure, excessive power outages, lack of clean drinking water, poor sanitation, rising street crime, and what they termed harassment of traders, labourers, and vendors by traffic police and municipal authorities.
Speakers stated that despite repeated written complaints to Sui Southern Gas Company, QESCO, traffic police, and district administration, no meaningful relief had been provided. They warned that protests would soon be held at multiple locations across Quetta, particularly in City Tehsil areas.
PkMAP leadership urged party workers to mobilize residents at neighbourhood level, warning that if issues remain unresolved, the protest campaign would be expanded across the city.
