Independent Report
Winder, Jan 08:
Illegal LPG gas filling stations operating across Winder city have emerged as a major safety hazard, raising fears of potential disasters in densely populated areas. These outlets reportedly operate without official permission and lack basic safety arrangements.
According to residents, domestic gas cylinders are being refilled openly at unlicensed shops located in markets and residential neighbourhoods. Most of these sites lack fire extinguishers, trained staff, or emergency response mechanisms. In several cases, LPG filling stations are operating alongside hotels and roadside furnaces, significantly increasing the risk of fire or explosion.
Public and social circles have expressed serious concern over the unchecked operations, warning that any mishap could result in heavy loss of life and property. They noted that authorities have failed to enforce safety regulations despite repeated complaints.
Citizens have urged the Deputy Commissioner Hub and Assistant Commissioner Winder to immediately seal all illegal and unsafe LPG filling stations and take legal action against operators. They stressed that preventive measures must be taken urgently to avert a major tragedy.
