KARACHI/QUETTA: According to aviation sources, AIRSIAL Airline has formally commenced its scheduled flight operations between Karachi and Quetta, marking a significant milestone in improving air connectivity for the province of Balochistan. The launch of these services is expected to enhance passenger convenience, promote regional mobility, and contribute positively to economic and social development in the region.

Under the newly launched schedule, AIRSIAL will operate three weekly flights between Karachi and Quetta on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, catering to both business and leisure travelers. These flights will operate in both directions, providing reliable and consistent air travel options for passengers traveling to and from Quetta.

The inaugural flight, AIRSIAL 161, successfully landed at Quetta International Airport at 03:15 pm, carrying 180 passengers on board. The arrival of the first flight was warmly received by airport authorities and airline representatives. Following the arrival, the return flight departed Quetta for Karachi, marking the successful commencement of round-trip operations on this vital domestic sector.

To commemorate the launch of AIRSIAL’s operations at Quetta International Airport, an inauguration ceremony was held at the airport premises. The ceremony was attended by a wide range of stakeholders, reflecting the importance of the occasion for the aviation community and the region as a whole. Distinguished attendees included Airport Manager Quetta International Airport, Malik Waheed Abbas, the Chief Security Officer of the Airports Security Force (ASF), station managers of both domestic and international airlines, officials and representatives of AIRSIAL Airline, as well as other allied stakeholders associated with airport and aviation operations.

During the ceremony, Airport Manager Malik Waheed Abbas addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of AIRSIAL’s entry into the Quetta aviation market. On behalf of the higher management of the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), he expressed sincere gratitude to the higher management of AIRSIAL Airline for facilitating the people of Balochistan by extending quality air travel services to the provincial capital. He emphasized that improved air connectivity plays a vital role in promoting economic growth, tourism, business activities, and social integration, particularly in a region with vast distances and challenging terrain.

Mr. Malik Waheed Abbas further appreciated AIRSIAL’s commitment to providing safe, reliable, and passenger-friendly services. He noted that the commencement of these flights would significantly benefit travelers by reducing travel time and offering an efficient alternative to long road journeys. He also acknowledged the coordinated efforts of airport authorities, security agencies, airline staff, and all relevant stakeholders whose cooperation ensured the smooth launch of flight operations.

In his address, the Airport Manager also encouraged AIRSIAL Airline to further enhance its operations at Quetta International Airport by considering the introduction of direct flights from Lahore and Islamabad. He stated that such routes would not only increase passenger traffic but also strengthen Quetta’s linkage with other major cities of the country, thereby fostering greater economic and social interaction.

Aviation sources highlighted that Quetta International Airport holds significant passenger potential, owing to its strategic importance and growing demand for air travel in the region. The airport is fully equipped with allied aeronautical, operational, and technical facilities to support expanded flight operations, including modern runway infrastructure, navigational aids, passenger handling facilities, and comprehensive security arrangements. These facilities enable the airport to efficiently accommodate additional flights and increased passenger volumes.

The launch of AIRSIAL’s Karachi–Quetta operations is being viewed as a positive development for the domestic aviation sector, reflecting growing confidence by airlines in regional routes. It is also aligned with broader efforts to improve connectivity across Pakistan and ensure equitable access to air travel services for all provinces.

Aviation observers believe that sustained airline operations, coupled with potential route expansion, will contribute to the long-term growth of Quetta International Airport as a key aviation hub in western Pakistan. The availability of reliable air services is expected to benefit not only passengers but also trade, tourism, and investment opportunities in Balochistan.

With the successful commencement of these flights, Quetta International Airport and AIRSIAL Airline have reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing aviation services, supporting regional development, and providing passengers with safe, efficient, and comfortable travel options.
