Ghotki, Jan 19 — Police and Rangers in Ghotki district, Sindh, have intensified their crackdown on outlaw elements in the riverine (Katcha) belt, reporting continued clashes and law-enforcement actions amid a tense security situation. In a recent operation, officers engaged with suspected bandits, resulting in the death of two alleged robbers during a gunfight, local police confirmed. The deceased were identified among those resisting arrest in the rugged terrain. �

The joint anti-dacoit campaign forms part of an extended effort to curb violent crime, kidnappings and banditry in the region’s difficult-to-access riverine areas. Authorities have employed drones and modern technology to track and confront heavily armed suspects, with security forces warning remaining outlaws to surrender and cooperate. �

Separately, a written agreement was recently finalised between the police and some tribal elements of the Shar gang in the Ronti Katcha area, aimed at encouraging surrender and reducing hostilities. Under the arrangement, police will refrain from deploying armoured vehicles in exchange for tribal assurances to support security personnel and limit harbouring of criminals. �
