Karachi: Iran, France and the United Kingdom have expressed deep sorrow over the deadly fire at Gul Plaza in Karachi that has claimed at least 14 lives so far. Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam conveyed condolences to the victims’ families and prayed for the recovery of the injured and safety of rescue personnel.
The French Embassy, in a statement, expressed solidarity with Pakistan and extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families. British High Commissioner Jane Marriott said she was deeply saddened by the tragedy, adding that her thoughts were with the victims, the injured and those awaiting news of missing relatives.
Authorities confirmed that 14 people, including a woman, have lost their lives, while 73 individuals remain unaccounted for. Rescue operations are ongoing amid concerns over structural safety and emergency preparedness in commercial buildings.
