Lahore: The Lahore High Court has disposed of National Accountability Bureau petitions against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz after declaring them ineffective. A two-member bench headed by Justice Amjad Rafiq heard the cases.
NAB informed the court that Shehbaz Sharif had already been acquitted in the Ashiana Housing and Ramzan Sugar Mills references in 2023, rendering the petitions redundant. The court accepted the stance and dismissed the pleas.
In a separate hearing, NAB also acknowledged that Maryam Nawaz had been acquitted in the related case. Following this submission, the court disposed of the petition filed by the NAB chairman. Maryam Nawaz had earlier secured bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. The ruling effectively ends NAB’s pending legal actions in these matters.
