Rahim Yar Khan:
Police have arrested eight highly wanted dacoits during an ongoing operation in the katcha area of Rahim Yar Khan, DPO Irfan Samoon confirmed on Tuesday.
He said all the arrested suspects were on the Punjab government’s most-wanted list, with head money announced on each of them. The operation marks a major breakthrough in efforts to restore law and order in the riverine belt.
According to police, the arrested dacoits include Mera Lathani, Qabil Sukhani, Mirzada Dashti and Wahab Lund, each carrying a bounty of Rs10 million. Others include Qurban Lathani with a head money of Rs5 million, while Shaho Kosh, Nazir Lathani and Shabbir Lathani were each wanted with bounties of Rs2.5 million.
The DPO said operations against criminal gangs in the katcha area will continue until complete elimination of armed groups and restoration of the state’s writ. Legal proceedings against the arrested suspects are underway.
