QUETTA: The Federal Ombudsman, Ijaz Ahmad Qureshi, has marked the 43rd anniversary of the institution, highlighting its record of providing relief to over 2.5 million families, predominantly from underprivileged communities.
In a statement, Qureshi underlined the Ombudsman’s role as the country’s foremost platform for administrative accountability, earning widespread public trust through the effective resolution of complaints related to mismanagement, negligence, and inefficiency. He described the institution as a “court for the poor,” delivering justice directly to citizens’ doorsteps.
Over the years, the Federal Ombudsman’s reach has expanded significantly, with 28 regional offices and complaint centers now operational nationwide, enhancing accessibility and ensuring timely response to grievances. Qureshi drew attention to initiatives such as open courts, the Outreach Complaint Resolution (OCR) program in smaller towns and tehsils, and the Informal Resolution of Disputes (IRD) mechanism, which have collectively improved public access to justice.
He emphasized that the institution remains committed to the highest standards of public service and integrity. Highlighting the new year as an opportunity to renew dedication, Qureshi pledged that every effort would be made to resolve public complaints promptly while reaffirming adherence to the Ombudsman’s core mission and principles.
Expressing confidence in the institution’s future, he asserted that by maintaining consistency, transparency, and perseverance, the Federal Ombudsman will continue to safeguard public trust and elevate benchmarks for service delivery across Pakistan.
