Quetta: A tragic incident occurred at Hazarganji Vegetable Market after strong winds caused illegal signboards installed outside shops to collide with an electricity transformer, resulting in a short circuit. Several cattle were electrocuted and died on the spot, while no human casualties were reported.
Eyewitnesses said high winds caused encroachments and signboards to sway and strike the transformer, electrifying nearby metal structures. Affected traders and citizens demanded immediate removal of illegal signboards and encroachments near transformers and high-voltage lines, enforcement of safety distances, and compensation for cattle owners. They warned that failure to act could lead to serious human casualties in the future.
