Independent Report
Usta Muhammad, Jan 25, 2026:
The government’s tree plantation campaign has failed in Usta Muhammad, where large-scale illegal cutting of trees continues unchecked. Public circles have accused the Forest Department of complete negligence, stating that no saplings are available in nurseries and departmental staff remain absent from offices.
Despite the allocation of millions of rupees for plantation drives to counter climate impacts, environmentally destructive practices continue in Usta Muhammad and surrounding areas. Citizens allege that forest officers are either ignoring or facilitating illegal logging, while dozens of daily-wage employees have been hired without transparency, causing losses to the national exchequer.
Residents have expressed serious concern over environmental degradation and demanded strict action against negligent officials. They urged the Chief Minister Balochistan, Chief Secretary and senior forest authorities to take immediate notice, stop illegal tree cutting and ensure effective implementation of plantation initiatives.
Public representatives warned that failure to act would worsen climate vulnerability and demanded accountability to protect the region’s ecological future.
