Islamabad – The Supreme Court ruled that reinstatement of dismissed employees does not automatically entitle them to back pay. The authority to grant arrears rests with the competent authority and must be exercised fairly, transparently, and reasonably. The judgment emphasized that salary arrears and reinstatement are separate legal matters and clarified conditions under which employees may claim compensation.
