Muzaffarabad, February 5, 2026: A delegation led by Muhammad Iqbal Mir, President of the Jammu & Kashmir Journalists Forum, met Advocate Pervez Ahmed, General Secretary of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, ahead of Kashmir Solidarity Day. The meeting also included Hurriyat leaders Zahid Ashraf, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Abdul Majeed Mir, and Information Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Butt.
During the briefing, Advocate Pervez Ahmed highlighted the severe human rights violations, widespread militarization, and systematic state oppression faced by the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK). He emphasized that the Kashmiri struggle is a principled, political resistance aimed at protecting fundamental rights and the right to self-determination.
He urged media professionals in Azad Kashmir to provide responsible, fact-based reporting to amplify the voices of the oppressed and highlight unlawful detentions, extrajudicial actions, and demographic changes.
Muhammad Iqbal Mir and the delegation assured comprehensive coverage of rallies and public gatherings organized on February 5 in collaboration with the APHC, the Government of Azad Kashmir, and the Refugee Forum. The joint efforts of media and civil society aim to ensure the Kashmiri people’s plight reaches the global conscience.
