Muzaffarabad Conference Honors Shaheed Afzal Guru & Shaheed Maqbool Butt, Reaffirms Kashmir Freedom Mission

Muzaffarabad, Feb 9: A commemorative conference was held at the Cultural Academy Jallalabad, Muzaffarabad, organized by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Azad Kashmir & Pakistan chapter and the Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Cell, on the anniversary of Shaheed Afzal Guru and Shaheed Maqbool Butt. The event saw participation from political, religious, and social leaders, lawyers, intellectuals, human rights activists, civil society representatives, and a large number of youth.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by detailed speeches highlighting the lives of the martyrs, the legal and political aspects of their cases, their sacrifices, and the overall situation in the region. Key speakers included Prime Minister’s Spokesperson Shaukat Javed Mir, Hurriyat leader Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Director of the Liberation Cell Sardar Sajid, Ali Shan (Media Coordinator, J&K Liberation Cell), Ashfaq Ahmed Awan, and other senior leaders.

Speakers paid tribute to the martyrs and reaffirmed the commitment to continue their unfinished mission of achieving freedom from India through a rights-based struggle and the principle of self-determination. They emphasized that transparent judicial processes, protection of fundamental human rights, and adherence to international laws are essential for lasting peace in South Asia.
The conference also highlighted the importance of educating youth about Kashmir’s history, law, and human rights standards to foster informed dialogue and advocacy. The event concluded with a special prayer for the martyrs and a rally where participants raised pro-Kashmir freedom slogans and anti-India chants, reiterating their commitment to the cause.
