Quetta, February 10: Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has reiterated the provincial government’s unwavering determination to eliminate terrorism, stressing that no effort will be spared to secure lasting peace and stability. He highlighted that government authorities, opposition parties, and key state institutions are collaboratively addressing the challenges confronting Balochistan with a focus on public welfare, security, and development.
These remarks came during a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister Secretariat in Quetta on Tuesday, attended by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, along with Balochistan cabinet members and allied political leaders, to assess the current security environment and recent terrorist incidents in the province.
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the recent acts of violence and pledged Punjab’s comprehensive support to Balochistan in maintaining law and order. Speaking to the provincial assembly and cabinet members, she commended Mir Sarfraz Bugti’s efforts toward public welfare and peace-building, noting that such initiatives are vital for sustainable development and long-term provincial stability.
Sharif described her visit to Balochistan as a source of pride, marking it as her first official tour as Chief Minister. She praised the citizens of Balochistan for their resilience and sacrifices, emphasizing the province’s longstanding contributions to national unity and security.
She further assured that Punjab would provide full assistance in tackling both security and developmental challenges, underlining that a united national front is essential for the eradication of terrorism. “Achieving lasting peace, political stability, and economic growth in Balochistan requires collective resolve and inter-provincial cooperation,” she stated.
Welcoming the Punjab delegation, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti described Sharif’s visit as a testament to inter-provincial trust and solidarity. He particularly acknowledged the Punjab government’s pledge of Rs10 billion in support for security forces, calling it a timely and commendable measure demonstrating national determination against terrorism.
Bugti added that this support would bolster the capabilities of security personnel and enhance ongoing counter-terrorism operations. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Punjab for her commitment to fostering peace, development, and provincial cooperation in Balochistan.
