Quetta, February 10: Governor Balochistan Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation among Pakistan’s provinces, noting that while relations with the federal government remain cordial, proactive measures are needed to strengthen inter-provincial harmony.
The remarks came during a meeting at the Governor House in Quetta on Monday with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The discussion centered on the country’s law and order situation, Balochistan’s political climate, and a range of issues requiring collaborative attention.
The session was attended by Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Speaker Balochistan Assembly Captain (R) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, provincial ministers and assembly members, Punjab Information Minister Mariyum Aurangzeb, Azma Bukhari, and Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman.
Governor Mandokhail expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her visit and acknowledged her active engagement with Balochistan’s provincial leadership. In response, Sharif assured the Governor of continued coordination and pledged full support for future initiatives aimed at provincial cooperation.
Both leaders emphasized the need to further deepen inter-provincial relations and promote people-to-people interactions as a pathway to national unity and social cohesion.
Concluding the meeting, Governor Mandokhail presented Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif with a commemorative shield and a traditional carpet, symbolizing goodwill and mutual respect between Punjab and Balochistan.
