KP Chief Minister Inaugurates 50 Rebuilt Schools, Bara Bypass and AI Programs in Jamrud During Landmark Khyber Visit

PESHAWAR, February 11, 2026: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Tuesday undertook a comprehensive visit to District Khyber, inaugurating major education, health, infrastructure and youth development projects aimed at accelerating regional growth and public welfare. The initiatives include the upgradation of Government College of Engineering and Technology Jamrud to Applied Sciences, reconstruction of 50 terrorism-affected schools in Bara, completion of the 7-kilometre Bara Bypass Road, launch of the Sehat Sahulat Programme, and establishment of a maternal and child nutrition facility at DHQ Hospital Jamrud.
Addressing multiple ceremonies, the Chief Minister said the provincial government is prioritizing modern education, improved healthcare services, infrastructure development and youth engagement, particularly in underdeveloped districts.
In Jamrud, he announced the launch of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Robotics and Software Engineering programs, stating that outdated systems were contributing to unemployment, while the government is moving toward market-oriented and technology-driven education. State-of-the-art laboratories and modern libraries are also being established across colleges in the province.
In Bara, the Chief Minister inaugurated 50 reconstructed schools completed with Chinese financial and technical assistance at a cost of Rs 3.21 billion. The project includes 35 primary, 7 middle, 7 high and one higher secondary school equipped with solar power, clean drinking water and sanitation facilities, benefiting thousands of students.
He also inaugurated the Rs 1.32 billion Bara Bypass Road, featuring a 152-meter bridge, expected to ease traffic congestion and boost local trade.
Separately, the Chief Minister strongly condemned the firing incident on police in Dera Ismail Khan, paying tribute to the martyred SHO and personnel and reaffirming the governmentโ€™s resolve to eliminate terrorism through a comprehensive strategy.
