PRCS Media Session Highlights Bajaur Relief Efforts

ISLAMABAD, Feb 16: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), with support from the Norwegian Red Cross and the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), held a comprehensive media engagement session at its National Headquarters to brief journalists on ongoing humanitarian operations in Bajaur.
The session brought together print and electronic media professionals, vloggers, bloggers, and social workers. Officials shared updates on emergency relief operations and assistance being provided to conflict- and disaster-affected communities in the district.
During the briefing, representatives highlighted coordinated efforts led by PRCS National Headquarters in collaboration with the PRCS Merged Areas Branch and partner organizations. Affected families are currently receiving emergency relief assistance, Mobile Health Team services, safe drinking water access, hygiene awareness support, psychosocial assistance to restore family links, and cash assistance.
Officials also outlined the broader humanitarian framework of the global Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, including the roles of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Media representatives were briefed on project outcomes, beneficiary figures, and future plans. An interactive question-and-answer session reinforced PRCS’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
Concluding the event, PRCS leadership acknowledged the constructive role of the media, emphasizing that responsible reporting strengthens humanitarian response by amplifying the voices of vulnerable communities and drawing attention to their concerns at decision-making levels.
