Muzaffarabad: The central office of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) in Muzaffarabad hosted Overseas Pakistan Foundation (OPF) Chairman Syed Qamar Raza and his delegation yesterday for a high-level meeting with APHC convener Ghulam Mohammad Safi and senior leaders. The meeting focused on the latest situation in Kashmir and matters of mutual concern.
Convener Safi briefed the delegation on the grave human rights violations ongoing in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, citing restrictions on civil liberties, arrests of political leaders and youth, suppression of free expression, pressure on media, demographic manipulation, and disputed land and property policies. He emphasized that these actions pose serious threats to the identity, property rights, and basic freedoms of the Kashmiri people. Safi highlighted that, despite this oppressive environment, Kashmiris continue to make unprecedented sacrifices in pursuit of their right to self-determination.
He stressed that the Kashmir issue is not merely a regional or political dispute but a matter of fundamental human rights and dignity for millions. A fair resolution must comply with United Nations resolutions and international principles. Safi noted that sustainable peace and stability in South Asia are unattainable until the Kashmiri people are granted their legitimate and recognized rights.
Chairman Qamar Raza commended the Hurriyat leadership’s efforts and assured that the OPF and overseas Pakistani communities will actively highlight the Kashmir issue at every international forum. He emphasized that global awareness of human rights violations and effective representation of the Kashmiri struggle remain a key responsibility for the diaspora.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to continue political, diplomatic, and legal efforts to achieve a just, peaceful, and lasting resolution to the Kashmir conflict.
The OPF delegation included Chaudhry Faryad, Ishtiaq Ahmed, Muhammad Rafiq Chaudhry, Ehsanullah Aslam Mughal, Aleem Naqshbandi, Raja Mukhtiar, Rafiqat Ali, Syed Ahmed, Hamza Arshad, and Shabbir Ahmed Qureshi. The Hurriyat side comprised General Secretary Advocate Pervez Ahmed, Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal, Syed Manzoor Shah, and Mushtaq-ur-Islam.
The meeting reflected strong solidarity, coordination, and a shared determination to project the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people on the global stage.
