Karachi, February 16 — Sindh’s wheat production is projected to rise by 24 percent this season as cultivated area expands from 3.08 million acres to 3.66 million acres, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah said on Monday.
Chairing a high-level agriculture review meeting, he stated that timely provision of DAP and urea fertilizers to 326,440 small farmers boosted crop coverage and productivity. Last year’s wheat output stood at 3.542 million tons, while the current Rabi 2025–26 estimate has reached 4.402 million tons.
Officials attributed the increase to focused farmer support measures and improved monitoring. The Chief Secretary directed continued oversight of crop conditions until harvest and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining agricultural growth and strengthening provincial food security.
