Karachi, February 16 — The Sindh government held talks with the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) to address province-wide teachers’ protests and review key demands, officials said Monday.
The meeting, chaired by Secretary College Education Nadeem Ur Rehman Memon, discussed promotions, service benefits, allowance revisions, vacant posts, infrastructure upgrades and the proposed five-tier formula. Officials said the five-tier agenda has been endorsed in principle, while promotions, including Grade 21 cases, will proceed on merit through the Departmental Promotion Committee.
Proposals on allowances and recruitment remain under review, and steps will be taken to address textbook shortages and infrastructure expansion in major districts. The government reiterated its commitment to resolving legitimate concerns and strengthening higher education standards across Sindh.
