Islamabad: The Chairman of Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Lieutenant General (Retired) Nazir Ahmed, met with Qatar’s Ambassador to Pakistan, His Excellency Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater, to enhance bilateral cooperation on anti-corruption, criminal justice, and business transparency. A high-level NAB delegation also participated in the meeting.
During the discussion, Chairman NAB thanked Qatar for its role as a reviewer in Pakistan’s second country assessment under the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), highlighting Qatar’s support in presenting a positive image of Pakistan. He also congratulated the Qatari government for successfully hosting the 11th Conference of the States Parties (CoSP) and the 15th International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) meeting in Doha in December 2025.
Both sides reviewed progress on finalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NAB and Qatar’s Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA) for cooperation in criminal matters. Chairman NAB also introduced the Pakistan Anti-Corruption Academy (PACA) as a center of excellence, proposing joint training and capacity-building initiatives.
The meeting emphasized curbing illicit financial flows, preventing safe havens for criminals, promoting a transparent business environment, and recognizing the growing role of skilled Pakistani workers in Qatar.
