Quetta, February 19 – City authorities in Quetta have launched a comprehensive traffic management initiative aimed at reducing congestion and improving overall urban mobility.
Commissioner Quetta Division Shahzeb Khan Kakar highlighted that enhanced traffic flow will not only facilitate daily commuting for residents but also elevate the city’s order and urban environment. Speaking at a high-level meeting on traffic management, he outlined a phased strategy for implementing city-wide improvements.
The session focused on escalating traffic challenges, particularly at Serena Chowk, a known congestion hotspot. Attendees included Deputy Commissioner Quetta Mehrullah Badini, Divisional Director Development Zahoor Ahmed, SSP Traffic Police Mirza Bilal, Director Balochistan Traffic Engineering Bureau Shakeel Ahmed, and representatives from the Metropolitan Corporation and RTA Quetta.
The committee decided on immediate interventions to manage traffic effectively, with special attention to peak hours for schools and offices. A dedicated task force was assigned to inspect Serena Chowk and develop practical solutions to ease bottlenecks.
Commissioner Shahzeb Khan Kakar instructed all relevant departments to enhance inter-agency coordination, deploy personnel at critical intersections, and adopt modern traffic management techniques, prioritizing the convenience and safety of citizens throughout the city.
