Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) The local administration on the second day of Ramazan launched a crackdown against profiteers in various commercial areas of the city, imposing fines on shopkeepers found overcharging customers for essential commodities.

Mukhtiarkar Tando Adam, Imamuddin Larak, accompanied by Assistant Mukhtiarkar Waseem Ahmed Panhwar and a police contingent, carried out inspections following public complaints about inflated prices.

The team visited key commercial centres including Muhammadi Chowk, M.A. Jinnah Road, Chhatri Chowk, Latif Gate, Beerani Road, Hyderabad Road and Kali Road. During the inspections, officials checked prices of vegetables, fruits, meat, milk, yoghurt and other daily-use items.

Several shopkeepers were fined on the spot for charging above the government-notified rates, and thousands of rupees were recovered in penalties, officials said.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Larak warned traders to strictly adhere to officially prescribed prices and to display rate lists prominently at their shops. He cautioned that legal action would be initiated against violators in case of non-compliance.

The administration has vowed to continue price monitoring drives throughout Ramazan to ensure relief for consumers.
