Sindh Govt Reviews Gul Plaza Relief and Rehabilitation Measures

Karachi, February 20, 2026: Sindh Minister for Local Government, Syed Nasir Hussain ShahSyed Nasir Hussain Shah, and Karachi Mayor, Murtaza WahabMurtaza Wahab, visited Bagh Jinnah to assess relief and temporary business arrangements for traders affected by the Gul Plaza tragedy.

Officials briefed the delegation on temporary stall setups and facilities for displaced traders. The minister confirmed emergency measures, including free alternative spaces, Rs7 billion compensation, and interim financial support of up to Rs500,000 per month. Temporary stalls, parking, security, and fire safety measures have been ensured until permanent reconstruction is complete.

Mayor Murtaza Wahab said around 350 traders would receive stalls in the first phase ahead of Ramadan. Registration was completed with Karachi Chamber of Commerce to ensure transparency. The government will reconstruct Gul Plaza to modern standards and provide full support to affected traders until complete restoration.
