Quetta: The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) carried out a major operation against fake beverages, seizing a significant quantity of counterfeit soft drinks and syrups. The raids, conducted at Bari Chowk Market, Satellite Town, and Old Fruit Market, were based on confidential intelligence, uncovering a well-organized network and tracing the supply chain. Initial investigations reveal that the counterfeit stock was being transported from Peshawar to Quetta via the bulleti system.

According to a BFA spokesperson, these fake beverages were produced under the names of well-known brands and were intended for distribution across Quetta and surrounding areas. Investigations have been expanded to identify the main sources, and legal action against the culprits is ongoing.

In addition, 26 food and production units in Quetta and other districts were fined for violations of food safety laws, including unhygienic conditions, use of substandard ingredients, and improper labeling.

BFA Director General Habibullah Khan stated that public health remains the top priority, and action against manufacturers and sellers of substandard and fake products will continue without exception. He noted that monitoring of food production and supply has been intensified during Ramadan, with BFA inspection teams actively patrolling to ensure safe and quality food for citizens.

The public has been urged to purchase authentic branded products, obtain receipts, and report any suspicious or counterfeit items immediately to the Balochistan Food Authority.
