Quetta (ANN): Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar emphasized the vital role of mother languages in preserving national identity, culture, and heritage, noting that nations that keep their languages alive never lose their true identity.
He stated that safeguarding all mother languages is the joint responsibility of the state and society. “Sadly, mother languages have not been granted the recognition they deserve at official levels. They must be effectively represented in education, governance, and media,” he said.
Minister Kakar added that mother languages are more than just communication tools; they form the foundation of collective consciousness and historical continuity. “Mastering one’s language reflects love for it, while hatred or prejudice against another language is unacceptable,” he said.
He highlighted that Balochistan’s linguistic diversity reflects its intellectual depth and cultural richness, and protecting it is a key governmental responsibility. “The government is implementing coordinated strategies for teaching, research, and documentation of regional languages. Engaging the younger generation with their mother tongue is essential for strengthening identity and intellectual self-confidence,” he said.
The minister concluded by emphasizing that promoting mother languages does not weaken national unity, but rather strengthens the principle of “unity in diversity.” He called for fostering love, understanding, and respect among communities to mark the significance of the day.
