Karachi, February 21: Fifteen people were killed and 15 injured when a 40-yard illegal building collapsed in Soldier Bazaar’s Chori Maidan area.
Police arrested the builder, Muhammad Arshad, and registered a case at Soldier Bazaar Police Station. Investigations revealed the building, constructed between 2007–2008, had faulty gas lines and was made with substandard materials. A gas leak ignited during pre-dawn cooking, causing a massive explosion that demolished the upper three floors. Authorities called the incident a criminal act of negligence, with further investigation ongoing.
