40-Foot Wide Breach in Sui Kandhar Canal Devastates Villages Near Tando Adam
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) A 40-foot wide breach occurred near Hashim Sandh village in the Sui Kandhar Canal, causing widespread devastation to agricultural land and villages in the area. The breach has submerged hundreds of acres of farmland, destroying mango orchards, banana plantations, wheat, and onion crops, resulting in estimated losses of millions of rupees.

Villages, including Hashim Saand, were inundated, with landlords Waqar Qadir Junejo, Wadero Ali Muhammad Saand, and other farmers among the worst affected. Due to the irrigation department’s negligence and delayed response, villagers took matters into their own hands and worked tirelessly to seal the breach.
Assistant Commissioner Tando Adam, Hunain Tariq Shahani, visited the site to assess the situation and directed officials to take immediate measures to control the damage and assist the affected families.
It is worth noting that a similar breach in the Rohri Canal a few months ago had already left many villagers displaced and struggling to recover. The current incident has added to their woes, forcing some families to lose their homes again.
Farmers and villagers are now urging the government to take swift action to improve the irrigation system and prevent such disasters in the future.
