The Governor Balochistan, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has stated that different languages are spoken in Balochistan, and as such there is a need to take concrete steps for preservation and promotion of these languages.
QUETTA: The Governor Balochistan, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has stated that different languages are spoken in Balochistan, and as such there is a need to take concrete steps for preservation and promotion of these languages.
He said that the literary academies are the best source of research and stock of the language, knowledge and literature. These academies should play role for promotion of harmony and brotherhood besides contributing in literature and human development.
The Governor expressed these views while addressing the ceremony of oath taking of the office bearers of Pashto Academy here on Tuesday.
The Provincial Minister for Education, Ms. Raheela Hameed Durrani, newly elected Chairman, Pashto Academy, Professor Dr. Rehmatullah Niazi, former Provincial Ministers, Dr. Hamid Khan Achakzai, Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, Professor Dr Abdul Karim Biryalay, Principal Secretary to Governor, Hashim Khan Ghilzai, Abdul Qadir Agha, Ahmed Jan besides a large number of male and female poets and writers.
Speaking to the oath taking ceremony, Governor said that the mother language is the heartbeat of every national culture. He said that the important secret of increase in the stock of knowledge and literature in the mother languages lies in modern researches and creations.

The Governor asked the office bearers and other concerned of Pashto Academy to form separate teams within their academy to preserve the translation and digital record. The Governor stressed that it is necessary for our mutual existence to promote harmony among all neighbouring nationalities and cultures in the global village. He also stressed that we need to start a new chapter of human friendliness and progressiveness in the educational and literary journey.
The Governor on the occasion administered oath to the newly elected office bearers of Pashto Academy.
Earlier, the President of Pashto Academy, Professor Abdul Karim highlighted the historic background of the Pashto Academy.
The General Secretary of Academy, Naqeebullah Ehsas presented welcome address. In his address, he spoke at length about the overall performance of the Academy. He said that the literary academies are playing their effective part in promotion of the regional languages.
He on the occasion stressed the need to provide equal funds for all the literary academies including Pashto Academy.
