QUETTA: While addressing the 20th annual convocation of Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), the Governor Balochistan, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has stated that the convocations are much more than ceremonial events; they are milestones of triumph, hope, and promise.
Addressing the graduates, Governor said that “today, each one of you represents the future of Balochistan—a future filled with boundless potential, innovation, and progress.”
The Governor was addressing the annual convocation of the BUITEMS at its Takatu campus, on Thursday.
The, other concerned high ups, Vice Chancellor of BUITEMS, Professor Dr. Khalid Hafeez, faculty members, dignitaries from different walks of life, graduate students and their families participated in the convocation.
The Governor maintained that it gives him immense pleasure to join you all today on the momentous occasion of the 20th Convocation of BUITEMS. This day is not only a celebration of the exceptional achievements of this esteemed institution but also a testament to the hard work, resilience, and dedication of the graduating students.
He said that BUITEMS, under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez and his dedicated team, has become a shining example of academic excellence and innovation. The institution’s remarkable achievements are sources of immense pride for all of us. Furthermore, BUITEMS stands alone as the SDG #8 Hub for Decent Work and Economic Growth, reflecting its commitment to contributing to sustainable development locally and globally.
He said that “as a forward-thinking institution, BUITEMS continues to respond to the needs of a rapidly evolving world.”
He shared with delight that new BS programs in Data Science, Business Intelligence, and Physical Education will be offered starting Spring 2025. These programs demonstrate BUITEMS’s ability to anticipate future market demands and equip students with critical skills for the challenges of tomorrow.
Moreover, the establishment of new Centers of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence, Climate Change and Smart Structure Lab, as well as Risk and Disaster Management, highlights BUITEMS commitment to addressing the unique challenges of Balochistan while integrating cutting-edge technologies. Additionally, the sub-campuses in Zhob and Muslim Bagh are making remarkable contributions by offering new programs in Education, IT, and Economics, nurturing local talent and fostering regional development.

Earlier, the Governor gave away degrees to more than 700 graduates of different BS programmes. Of them, 30 graduates were conferred the gold medals on outstanding performance in their respective disciplines. Seven of them were also awarded the badges of honour.
Besides, two deceased students of the University including Ali Akbar (BS Electronic Engineering) and Syed Inayatullah Agha (Ph.D Bio-technology) were also awarded the posthumous honorary degrees and given the same to their family members.
Ali Akbar’s posthumous honorary degree was received by his elder brother while the degree of Syed Inayatullah Agha was received by his father and daughter. Moving scenes were witnessed on the occasion.
It may be mentioned here that they had died during their studies.
