Lahore, July 23, 2025: On the directions of Director General PFA Muhammad Asim Javaid, enforcement teams led by the Additional Director Lahore carried out a major crackdown on Kasur and Raiwind Roads.
Food safety teams inspected five food points on Kasur Road during operation, imposing a fine of Rs200,000. Separately, an FIR was lodged against a dairy unit on Raiwind Road under four sections of the law. Teams discarded 2,000 litres of adulterated milk prepared using powder and ghee. A supply vehicle, 41 oil tins, 21 sacks of powder, chillers, pumps, drums and cylinders were also confiscated from the site. In another raid, 130kg fungus-infected dried coriander, 60kg spoiled curry leaves and 20kg of packaging material were discarded from a spice unit.
DG PFA said spice production unit was heavily fined for preparing and packaging substandard spices, maintaining unhygienic conditions and having incomplete staff medical records and no training certificates. He added that despite repeated warnings, the unit failed to comply with insect infestation in storage and a foul-smelling production area.
He said the unsafe food items were meant for supply to markets in Lahore and nearby areas posing serious health threats. PFA is committed to eliminating food adulteration in line with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
DG PFA has requested citizens to check manufacturing and expiry dates before buying food items and to report any violations on PFA helpline 1223.
