Islamabad, October 16, 2025:
Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, in his message on World Food Day, emphasized that access to adequate food is the fundamental right of every human being.
He highlighted that this year’s World Food Day theme — “Water is Life, Water is Food. Leave No One Behind” (or as adapted in Urdu messaging: “Better Food, Better Future – Hand in Hand”) — carries a profound message that underscores the importance of joint global efforts to ensure food security.
“Food insecurity is a global challenge that requires collective action and shared responsibility,” the Speaker stated. He stressed that sustainable agricultural policies are vital for achieving self-sufficiency in food production, which forms the cornerstone of a strong and resilient national economy.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq urged that the government, parliament, and the people must work together to eradicate hunger and malnutrition. He said that empowering farmers, promoting modern agricultural practices, and ensuring the efficient utilization of food resources are essential steps toward reducing poverty and hunger.
“Encouraging farmers to adopt climate-smart and innovative farming techniques is the need of the hour,” he added, emphasizing that climate change has already begun to affect crop yields and that timely measures are necessary to mitigate its impact.
He reaffirmed that the Government of Pakistan is taking concrete steps to promote climate-resilient agriculture and to develop modern irrigation systems to reclaim barren lands for cultivation.
“The Parliament of Pakistan remains fully committed to legislating and supporting initiatives that ensure national food security,” the Speaker concluded.
